My Story

My story starts 30 years ago in the Cajun County of Lafayette, Louisiana. Growing up in south Louisiana has had a major impact on who I am today. (Nature? Nurture? I suppose that's a discussion for another day.) I grew up reveling in the creative and unique traditions we hold so closely; Mardi Gras, Festivals, Cajun cuisine, Zydeco music, and Cajun French to name a few.

I spent my younger years vying for the spotlight; as my Dad would say, "She's never met a stage she didn't like!". Competing in singing competitions and Speech and Debate (YES, it's a sport), and performing in community theatre was my passion. Not surprisingly, I quickly became the go-to gal for everyone's beauty needs. I wanted to make everything around me SHINE! A little sparkle never hurt anyone, right?

Fast forward about a decade, and I had just gotten married to my gem of a husband, graduated cosmetology, and was headed to Savannah, Georgia with a 26 foot U-haul in tow. It was time to take this show on the road!​

Though the military brought us here, I was determined to make Savannah my own in some way. Thus, Demi Rae Hair was born! My career has been my creative outlet, my solace at times, and one of the only consistencies my new "home town" had to offer me (Thanks, Army life!). I truly LOVE the technical aspects of my career, and fancy the hell out of a major transformation; but the people... the PEOPLE!! I find the most joy in making connections- laughing, crying, celebrating, consoling, teaching. My gift is my artistic and creative abilities, but I find God in the small moments I get to share with all of those who walk through my salon doors. If connection and community is the destination, highlights and balayage are my highway. Thankfully, I'm dang good at both!😉
